Mr. Lawlor is a General Partner at HealthCare Ventures (HCV), one of the largest healthcare-focused venture capital firms in the world. Mr. Lawlor has 15 years of experience in the biotechnology industry in finance, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and general management. Prior to joining HCV in 2000, he was Chief Operating Officer of LeukoSite (acquired by Millennium Pharmaceuticals), a biotechnology company. Before joining LeukoSite, Mr. Lawlor also served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Corporate Development for Alpha-Beta Technology, and he was previously Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Business Development, at BioSurface Technology. Mr. Lawlor is a co-founder of Phase Forward (acquired by Oracle – ORCL), a company developing Internet-based management tools for conducting clinical trials. Mr. Lawlor received a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire, and an M.A. in Management from Yale University.
Enrico Petrillo, M.D.

Dr. Petrillo has been a Director of PathoGenetix since October 1999. Dr. Petrillo has a wealth of experience as a venture investor, healthcare consultant, entrepreneur, and physician. He brings over 20 years of experience in advising numerous major academic centers and multinational pharmaceutical, information technology, biotechnology firms, medical services, device, and venture capital companies. Dr. Petrillo received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University and an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training in General Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School and presently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center.
Steve Gullans, Ph.D.
Excel Venture Management
Dr. Gullans is a co-founder and partner at Excel Venture Management. At Excel he focuses on life science technology companies with particular interest in broadly applicable disruptive platforms. He is currently a Director at Biocius Biosciences and RxGen and was a board member of BioTrove until it was acquired by Life Technologies (LIFE). He also advises Aileron and formerly advised GeneOhm (acquired by Becton Dickinson - BDX) and other biotech companies. Prior to co-founding Excel, Dr. Gullans co-founded RxGen, Inc., a pharma services company where he served as CEO from 2004-2008. In 2002, Dr. Gullans stepped in as a senior executive at PathoGenetix for two years to direct operations, recruit a new CEO, and assist with fundraising.
Dr. Gullans is an expert in advanced life science technologies and was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital for nearly 20 years. He has published more than 120 scientific papers in many leading journals, lectured internationally, and co-authored many patents. He received his B.S. at Union College, Ph.D. at Duke University, and postdoctoral training at the Yale School of Medicine.
Tara Butler, M.D.

Dr. Butler joined AHV after completing a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Prior to attending medical school she held positions in business development at Medtronic, in finance at Honeywell, and as a laboratory research assistant at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Butler also serves on the Board of Isto Technologies (www.istotech.com) and Neurolutions and is a board observer at several other AHV portfolio companies.
She is a junior member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Butler holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
